Who Are Mandated Reporters Of Suspected Child Abuse?

The following persons are “mandated reporters” of suspected child abuse: (1) District attorney’s investigators, inspectors, and local child support agency caseworkers; (2) Peace officers; (3) Custodial officers; (4) Firefighters; (5) Employees or volunteers of a Court Appointed Special Advocate Program; (6) Physicians, surgeons, psychiatrists, dentists, nurses, dental hygienists, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists; (6) Emergency medical technicians and paramedics; (7) Psychologists and marriage, family, and child counselors (including registered psychological assistants, MFCC trainees, and MFCC registered interns); (8) Coroners and medical examiners; (9) Commercial film and photographic print processors; (10) Child visitation monitors; (10)Animal and humane society control officers; (11) Clergy members (except for confidential religious communications); (12) Custodians of records for clergy members; (13) Employees of police and sheriffs departments, county probation departments, and county welfare departments; (14) Teachers in public, private and non-academic (i.e. music or dance) schools; (15) Instructional aides and teacher's aides; (16) Classified employees of public schools; (17) Administrative officers or supervisors of child welfare and attendance, or certificated pupil personnel employees of public or private schools; (18) Administrators of public or private day camps; (19) Administrators or employees of public or private youth centers, youth recreation programs, and youth organizations; (20) Administrators or employees of public or private organizations whose duties require direct contact and supervision of children; (21) Employees of county offices of education of the California Department of Education whose duties require regular contact with children; (22) Licensees, administrators, and employees of licensed community care or child day care facilities; (21) Licensing workers or licensing evaluators employed by a licensing agency; (23) Public assistance workers; (24) Employees of child care institutions (including foster parents and group home personnel); (25) Social workers, probation officers, and parole officers; (26) Employees of a school district police or security department; and, (27) Administrators or presenters of, or counselors in, child abuse prevention programs in schools.
